Getting started
Finding the app
As time of writing the control app can be found on the following three locations.
Locally
The fastest and most reliable way of controlling 8c's is to use the app hosted locally, meaning on the system itself, on every 8c with a firmware version above 1.2.3. To use the local app:
- Make sure your device is conected to the same LAN as the 8c's you want to control
- Open an internet browser
- Browse to http://8c-<serialnumber>, or depending on the configuration of your router to http://8c-<serialnumber>.local. (For example, if your 8c has serial number 123, browse to http://8c-123 or http://8c-123.local)
Remotely
The latest version of the control app can always be found on http://lanspeaker.com.
Windows App Store
Windows users can install a standalone version of the app here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/dutch-dutch-control/9nqvbzzmf493
Using the app
== General ==
The app consists of views, which can contain a header, a body and a footer. The header can contain a link in both the upper left and upper right corner.
Discovery
The first thing the app does upon being opened, is finding every 8c on your LAN. This process is called 'discovery'. During discovery, the app is unresponsive and displays a loading animation. Discovery should not take longer than 10 seconds. If it does take longer, of if your 8c's are not found please see: App Can't Find My 8c's.
Overview
After discovery has finished the app shows the results in the Overview. This view shows two lists
