Compression, in audio, can refer to several phenomena:

 *  The compression of air, such as in a Compression Driver;
 *  Gain compression, a type of nonlinearity that occurs when a system is used beyond its linear range;
 *  Dynamic range compression, the intentional compression of signals in order to reduce their dynamic range.
